OPC Large Summer Pool Kit - Copper Based Algaecide and Chlorine Shock Granules

A Summer Pool Kit that will help keep your pool healthy all summer with this premium selection of essential products.

Summerguard - Copper Based Algaecide 2x5L

A Copper based Algaecide, effective treatment for up to 6 months (with maintenance dosing) which will assist in the prevention of algae formation. Add this product at the start of the season and again at the mid-point of the swimming season to offer maximum protection from Algae.

Summerguard is used to maintain good water quality in private and public swimming pools by preventing and inhibiting algal growth.

Treatment (Summerguard)

  1. Ensure bathing has ceased before applying the product.
  2. Adjust pH to 7.2
  3. If algae is present prior to application it is recommended this is cleared before application.
  4. To clear the algae, shock dose with unstabilised chlorine shock.
  5. Run filtration for 24 hrs
  6. Add product directly to circulating water.
  7. Maintain pH between 7.2 and 7.6
  8. Bathing can resume after one full turnover of the swimming pool water, typically 4 hours.

  • Always ensure bathers are out of the water when adding chemicals.
  • Never mix with any other chemicals including cleaning products, weed killers and chlorine products, as a dangerous reaction may occur.
  • When emptying water from the pool ensure copper levels have dropped to 0.4 mg/L.

Dose at the rate of:

1 litre of Summerguard will treat 6,700 litres (1474 gallons) of pool water to obtain 1mg/L (ppm) of copper. Check copper levels regularly with a copper test kit and top up with the product when the reading has reached 0.4 mg/L (ppm) to a target reading of 1mg/L (ppm) copper. It is recommended to add a “top up” dose of Summerguard around July or mid-winter at 4 litres per 50,000 litres of water.

OPC Chlorine Shock Granules 4Kg

Rapid Dissolving Unstabilised Chlorine Shock Granules are ideal for raising Free Chlorine readings without having an impact on stabiliser reads (cyanuric acid). Ideal for Shock Dosing the swimming pool water on a weekly basis after heavy bathing or as a preventative measure to ensure bacteria and organic contaminants are quickly eliminated.

Treatment (Chlorine Shock Granules)

  1. Test the water for Free Chlorine using a CHLORINE TEST KIT.
  2. It is recommended swimming pool water is shock dosed after Heavy Bathing and/or during warm weather to ensure water clarity is maintained and sanitiser efficiency.
  3. Ensure bathing has ceased before adding chemicals to the water.
  4. Add OPC Chlorine Shock Granules directly to circulating water with water temperature above 200C (for temperatures below 200C add product to 10 litres of clean water in a clean plastic container and add to directly to the circulating pool water.)
  5. To increase Free Chlorine reading by 1 PPM (parts per million) add 75g per 50 M3 (11,000 gallons) of swimming pool water.
  6. A shock dose of Chlorine Shock should achieve a reading between 5 – 8 PPM
  7. During the shock dose process always ensure water is circulating via the filter and all pool covers are removed.
  8. After 24 hours re-check Free Chlorine Readings and pH levels.
  9. Swimming should not resume until Free Chlorine levels are below 5 PPM (but above 2 PPM) and pH levels are 7.3 – 7.5.
